Cloaking Still Alive?
Link cloaking is known to be a black hat technique and has been dubbed as ‘deceptive’ by search engine standards. It usually works by redirecting search engine spiders to a ‘correct content’ page while users actually see an ad or some other form of non-relevant content. Technically these are really Blackhat Doorway pages that usually cause guideline infractions, best to stay away from these kinds of techniques. This used to be a very effective method of redirecting visitors, but during 2009 it was highly over used and search egines have more or less banned it. However, there are url certain options for success in this, there are numerous programs that manage your affiliates and hide your affiliate link code.
Link cloaking is a known Blackhat technique, but there have been numerous cases where professional affiliate marketers claimed to have success. They claim to have increased their affiliate CTR (Click Through Rate) by almost double and even triple, all by utilizing reputable software that does most of the work for you. A name I see more common than any other is ThirstyAffiliates, not that I’m recommending them, because I’ve never used their product. However, I have read numerous, positive product reviews from various sources, so you be the judge.
